Heart to Heart Discipleship for Women

Core Values Disciple Makers  Heart to Heart

Heart to Heart Booklet

We believe in the triune God;
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible
Holy Word of God.
We believe that God is the creator of everything
in heaven and on earth.
We believe that because of the sin of Adam and Eve,
we are all born with a sin nature.
We believe that God the Father sent His only
begotten Son to die for our sins that we might be
restored to fellowship with Him.
We believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead.
The Bible says that “Whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) shall
not perish but have eternal life.”
The Bible says that when you believe, you will be filled with
His Holy Spirit, the same power that is like that which raised
Jesus from the dead. Since He designed each of us,
He is the only one who has the answers to the
complexities of the human heart.
We believe that He speaks to these complexities through His
Word and will effect solutions to those complexities
as we exercise our faith in Him.

Kathy is a 35-year-veteran school teacher, recently retired. She is married to Tom McCarthy, a retired police officer, and they have two grown children and one grandson. She received her B.S. Degree from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, and a Masters in Family and Child Development from Auburn University.
Kathy became a Christian as a young child and has always
had a hunger and thirst to know God more. Jesus has been the
heartbeat of her life for over 50 years. She desires to help others“mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary; walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31
Kathy completed the Alpha Omega Counseling Program in May 2011.
♦ Several years after my divorce, I was in the Beatitudes Class.
The study revealed to me that there were strongholds in my life that needed to be addressed.
I found it to be a huge catalyst for my personal spiritual growth and to begin my journey of healing.
♦ I was at my wits end. My marriage was on the verge of separation with possible divorce. I needed Biblical counsel, not worldly counsel. As I was led to look at Scripture, I gained God’s perspective on marriage. I left the first session of counsel with an assurance that God was in control. I knew that Holy Spirit was speaking through my counselor and God was speaking to me through His Word. Every time we met I felt better about my marriage and myself. God’s Word was changing me. It was a tough time. But as I began to change in my attitude and actions, God helped me become a more godly wife. My husband responded and our marriage has been spared.
♦ During the time I was taking the discipleship class I was dealing with a major crisis in my husband’s life.
Within two years another crisis hit him, one which rippled like waves through our whole family. As I worked through the Beatitudes, God began to open my eyes to how He was growing me for His greater purposes. As I looked for God at work in my crises and struggles, I saw pieces which I had not understood before, begin to come together. I realized that God had led me to this class for a reason. Many women are hurting emotionally and spiritually. They feel as though they are sinking in the quicksand of despair. I’ve come to realize that pain, suffering and persecution will come, because we live in a fallen world. But I now know that it is possible to live victoriously through it all as I look to Jesus, the “Author and finisher of my faith.”

Marcia grew up in Flat River, Missouri, a small town south of St. Louis, and married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Al Sago. She graduated from the University of Missouri and taught kindergarten during
her husband’s medical school training. They have two grown children, both married with two children of their own. She came to Christ at age 36 and has since been “pressing toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called her heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
She was counseled through the Beatitudes by Bill Oswalt, Doctor of Ministry, San Antonio, Texas, in 1987 and began classes to train to become a Biblical Counselor. She volunteered at Alpha Omega Unlimited for about a year before moving to Florence, Alabama.
Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion
and the God of all comfort,
Who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any trouble
with the comfort we ourselves
have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Our training has been forty weeks of Biblical teaching by
Bill Oswalt, Doctor of Ministry, Thornton, Texas.
We use a Biblical model based on the Beatitudes
Matthew 5:1-16.
These verses are rich in life application and the
issues we each deal with in our lives.
Our primary resource is the Word of God
poured out in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not trained psychiatrists, psychologists
or licensed professional counselors, but women led
by the Lord to offer a listening ear.
We are blessed to be able to sit down with women and open
God’s Word to see how it applies to the difficulty in their life.
As we do, the “problems of life” are turned into “projects”
through which God is growing them. through which God is growing them.

“Help I’m Hurting!”
” “What do I do?”
” “To whom can I talk?”
“As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17

Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I will be with you always,
to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

We are here to
“comfort others with the same comfort we
ourselves have received from God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3- 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

  • The betrayal of my husband was crippling. I felt as if I was dying inside. I screamed and cried to the Lord to help me. As I sat down with sisters in Christ, they ministered to me, giving me God’s Word and taking me through the Beatitude Process. I felt as if I was in spiritual intensive care and slowly began to improve. Each day I was resuscitated by His mighty Word through their guidance and prayers. The Lord was literally breathing His Word into my soul. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) I knew I had to survive for my children and grandchildren. Today, I am better than ever. I want to reach the point where I can help others going through the same thing I did. I don’t want anyone to be in that pain and not be helped.
  •  I was in despair with little hope. Slowly as I worked through the Beatitudes, I began to see things from God’s point of view. I gained a new perspective on life. I learned of His sovereignty and power and how to keep my eyes on Him, not my circumstances. I felt like a thousand pounds had been lifted off my shoulders as I cleared my conscience. My marriage was saved and God “restored the years the locusts had eaten” in my children’s lives.
