I think many times in life we forget who our real enemy is and that there is a spiritual battle raging all around us. We can read in Ephesians 6:12 that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. What can we do to fight such powerful not to mention invisible foes? How can we, as mere mortals, defeat some enemy who prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour as Satan is described in 1 Peter 5:8? Good news! In the book of Romans, God’s Word also tells us that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us….. and that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What encouraging words! So when you are fearful and anxious, you can look to God’s word and find many verses that tell us not to fear and to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us. Ephesians 6:13-18 tells us to put on the full armor of God. In those verses, the Word of God is referred to as the sword of the Spirit…..sounds like we’re at war to me AND that we have weapons at our fingertips if we will use them. We are told to be strong in the Lord and His mighty power and take our stand against the devil’s schemes. That gives me hope to know that God has my back. I just have to stand in His power that He has provided for me and know that He is fighting for me.
In addition to the word of God we also have the powerful tool of prayer!! We just have to realize how truly powerful it is and use that power when we are facing challenges. One problem with being in a battle is that we can get so tired and sometimes discouraged. Reading God’s Word is one thing that lifts us up and worshipping Him is another. Christian music lifts my spirits in an amazing way. It really and truly speaks to my soul. Recently, I was so encouraged by a song I heard. The words just washed over me like a healing rain. I want to share some of the words to that song in hopes that it will minister to you as well. These are some words from the song, Rest For Your Soul, by Austin French.
Are you tired and troubled weighed down by a heavy load?
Praying for change, searching for faith, waiting on a miracle?
Are you drowning in questions, can’t believe where the road has led?
There’s one who knows the heavy you hold and He says
Come to me all who are weary and heavy burdened, all who are hurting.
Come to Me, I’ll be your shelter. My yoke is easy my load is light.
And you can find rest for your soul, rest for your soul.
I hope that if you are tired from the battle and feeling burdened, you will look to Jesus and find rest for your soul. Here is the link if you would like to listen.
