TABLE TALK QUESTIONS Ephesians 6: 1-4

1. Describe a time when your parent/guardian made a mistake for which they apologized or should have apologized to you.


2. What does God ask of all children (and what promise accompanies this command)? (Ephesians 6:1-3). What is the most difficult aspect of obeying parents? Read the first section of 2 Timothy 3; how is Ephesians 6:1-4 related to the end times?


3. How can parents bring children up in the training and instruction of the Lord? How can the church partner with parents to train and in-struct according to Ephesians 4? What is the danger of allowing children/youth to decide their spiritual direction, involvement in church, or engaging with other believers?


4. What are some things that parents do that can exasperate (provoke them to anger) their children? (i.e. comparing them to others, inconsistent discipline, pressuring them to pursue the parent’s goal and not their goals, etc.) How can a parent asking their children for forgiveness be a great example of the gospel’s work in that parent’s life?


5. How can a father (or mother) exasperating their children become an obstacle for the child pursuing a relationship with God (the Heavenly Father)?
